1 kittGallery One Visual Arts Center presents Best in Show juried works from Kittitas County artists at Confluence Gallery September 30 – November 11 with an opening reception September 30, 4-8pm.

Curated by Executive Director Monica Miller and Exhibits Coordinator Renee Adams of Gallery One Visual Arts Center, this exhibit features new works of selected artists from the past 10 years of the Kittitas County Juried Show “Best in Show” winners. The collection showcases the some of the breadth and diversity of artists in the area, as well as, the wide range of contemporary art being produced. From sculptural works to digital manipulations, it shakes up the notion that central Washington is just for cowboys.

Curators Statement:
If you’ve ever heard of Ellensburg, the first words that come to mind are probably Rodeo or CWU. These two pillars are certainly to thank for the fastest growing County in Washington State (or third fastest in the country) but they’re not everything. In 1967 the seeds of Gallery One Visual Art Center were planted and today Gallery One is a thriving center in the heart of downtown. In 1970 the first “Open Show” was held. Today that exhibit is known as the Kittitas County Juried Show. This year then marks its 47th year! When asked to show the breadth and talent of the area, this seemed like a natural place to go. This year for example we received submissions from 60 artists who live and make work in Kittitas County. After examining the last 10 years of Best in Show winners, it seemed we had a fit! Though they by no means represent the wide range of art being produced in the area, the artists in this show represent the breadth and diversity of talent that exists in Kittitas County. From sculptural works to digital manipulations, it shakes up the notion that central Washington is just for cowboys. Some of these artists have national fame and others have local notoriety. Together they make up the fabric of our community and we couldn’t be prouder to share them with you.

At the Confluence Gallery in Twisp, WA.
