About The Artist
Subhaga Crystal Bacon the author of two volumes of poetry, Blue Hunger, 2020 from Methow Press, and Elegy with a Glass of Whisky, which won the New Poetry America Prize from BOA Editions in 2004. She offers small-group and individual instruction in poetry and is a teaching artist for Methow Arts Alliance. Subhaga has participated in the Icicle Fund artist residencies exploring conservation, history, and art of the Methow River and Wenatchee Watershed. Subhaga was a nominee for the 2021-2023 Washington State Poet Laureateship, and her new manuscript: Transitory:A Catalog of Gleaned Sketches of Trans and Gender Nonconforming Women and Men Murdered in 2020, chronicling fatal violence against trans people in 2020 was selected as a finalist for the Brickhouse Books, Wild Woman Poetry Prize.
A Queer Elder, she lives, writes, and teaches on the east slope of the North Cascade Mountains in Twisp, WA. Her recent work appears or is forthcoming in the La Piccioletta Barca, Mom Egg Review, Indianapolis Review, Transition: Poems in the Afterglow, and Humana Obscura.
