Bob Kramer – Knife Sharpening 101

June 2, noon-4pm, 2018

Methow Skills

Bob Kramer’s story began in the kitchen…after ten years spent working in professional kitchens Bob still didn’t know the secret to keeping his knives sharp.  What began as a simple question became an all consuming quest to learn all he could about blades and how to care for them culminating in Bob’s position as one of only 120 Master Bladesmiths in the United States.

Here is your chance to learn from a man who has devoted his life to the single-minded pursuit of crafting the perfect kitchen knife. In this hands-on workshop Bob will teach you how to care for your kitchen knives. From the basics of how and where to store them all the way through  to using Japanese water stones to properly sharpen them.

Bob will share his story and his encyclopedic knowledge of knives during the first part of the class. Part autobiography, part history lesson, part demonstration and part practical tips. Then take those tips and put them to the test. You will have the opportunity to experience first hand just what it means to bring a knife from dead dull to razor sharpness all under the watchful eye of a true Master.
