In September, Gallery One’s main gallery gets overrun by fauna of all shapes and sizes. Michael Alm, Kristen Michael and Tom Saffle use their skills in metal, wood and water media to explore the intimate nature, structure and secret lives of animals. In our Eveleth Green Gallery, Tabitha Klucking will showcase her densely-stitched, artist-dyed fabric sculptures.

Vitrified – Etsuko Ichikawa

Tar Sands Project – Corwin Clairmont

October 4-26, 2019

Opening Reception: October 4, 5-8pm

Don’t miss the opportunity to view works by two powerful Northwest voices, Corwin Clairmont and Etsuko Ichikawa. These celebrated artists create poignant works rooted deeply in their heritage and identities. Corwin combines his experience as a native person and tribal member, sharing a post-modernist view of the realities of life as indigenous people struggle to retain their identities and sovereignty into the 21st century.  As a multimedia artist, visual storyteller, and activist, Etsuko’s working media varies broadly, from socially engaged art, performance, and film, to installation, sculpture, and drawing. She is a co-founder of Artists for Japan, a Seattle-based grassroots group to support the relief efforts of Great East Japan earthquake and aftermath, and a member of NOddIN, a Tokyo-based collective of filmmakers and creators who are paying attention to various social, political, and environmental issues.
