Sam Naney

Growing up in the Methow Valley allowed SAM NANEY’s innate relationship with movement and rhythm to prosper in ways largely impossible in other locales. Beginning when he was five years old Sam sought to hone his burgeoning dance skills at the glamorous Forest Service Christmas Ball, an always lively affair of music and dance floor action. His increasing awareness of dynamic movement led him to Nordic skiing where he focused this energy into a successful junior, then collegiate, now finally professional career in the sport at the national and international levels, ranking 9th in the US Olympic qualification standings for the sprint distance in 2014. Sam has an education from Dartmouth College and is a graduate of Liberty Bell High School. Never one to abandon his roots, however, Sam seeks every opportunity (mostly at home in his pajamas) to shake his moneymaker and to grab at the symbiosis he has long held with music. He incessantly shares this enthusiasm whenever possible with his wife Alison, dog Nikki, and as-yet unborn baby at their home in Mazama.

MY FAMILY AND THOSE WHO SURROUND ME: I’m one of the fortunate ones and get to live where I grew up and near my family, and to have a partner who gets me, a dog who loves nothing more than to ski all day, and a forthcoming baby to be a sponge for all the hopelessly romantic sentiment I possess.
