Spring Reader’s Theater Productions

Mar 27, 28 and Apr 17, 18, 7pm, 2015

MERC.StagesideCome see your friends and neighbors take to the boards with readings for two weekends this spring at The Merc.

March brings the contemporary play Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker. Centered on the drama classes a group of wildly different-from-each-other folks are taking at a community center in their town, the play is funny, poignant and heartfelt. The play opened Off-Broadway in 2009 and received the Obie Award for Best New American Play. This reading is directed by The Merc’s Artistic Director, Ki Gottberg.

April ushers in an evening of spirted and sassy One Acts chosen and directed by Laurelle Walsh, last season’s director of the hit show Over the River and Through the Woods. A group of corporate-types get really childish and two lonely neighbors of a certain age find some common ground. These and other surprises await you at The Merc in these fab and frisky bite-size theatre pieces.
