Methow Arts’ Teaching Artists provide art instruction in visual, literary, and performing arts to students in Okanogan County schools. In the absence of a regular art program in many of the schools we work with, Teaching Artists help provide high-quality art residencies that integrate into and enhance regular classroom units of study in the other core subject areas. Teaching Artists collaborate with classroom teachers to help students develop the essential skills outlined by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction in the Washington State Arts Learning Standards (what students know and should be able to do).

The primary responsibilities of this position are to: 1.) Teach art to elementary-level students in Okanogan County school districts on a part-time (ie, anything ranging from a 4-hour residency once a year to a regular weekly part-time schedule). 2.) Plan, deliver art instruction.

Compensation: Teaching Artists are contracted workers compensated at $30+hour depending on experience. Any travel outside of the Teaching Artist’s home school district will be compensated at current state rate for mileage and per diem, $.59.
