The Inn at Mazama Hosts Poetry Journal Release Party

Aug 4, 7pm, 2022

Poets from around the Columbia plateau will converge in Mazama on August 4, at 7pm to read new work from the 2022 Shrub-Steppe Poetry Journal.

The Journal is published annually by Shrub-Steppe Poetry, based in Wenatchee, and draws work from writers across Okanogan, Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Kittitas, Yakima, Benton, and Klickitat Counties. Editor Susan Blair’s team curates submissions and select the best work for inclusion in the annual volume.

The Methow Valley release party is being coordinated by Confluence Poet Greg Wright. “Susan’s work is so vital in bringing writers together,” says Wright. “And having a local release party is a terrific way to introduce writers to the valley, and introduce Methow audiences to writers from across the region.”

In addition to Wright, this year’s edition of the Journal includes work from other of the Methow’s Confluence Poets—Subhaga Crystal Bacon, Christine Kendall, Sam Owen—as well as part-time valley residents Susan Lagsdin and Rod Nelson.

The poetry readings for this year’s release party will be held on the back lawn of The Inn at Mazama. Please park off the road in The Inn’s main car park or other pull-outs and parking spaces around The Inn. If these spaces are full, please park at the Trailhead parking lot and walk over. Please do not block the access in front of The Inn’s Clubhouse and Pool.

Copies of the 2022 Shrub-Steppe Poetry Journal will be for sale at the event. Complimentary light refreshments will be available.
