Workshop: Mountain Textures in Watercolor

alec creighton watercolorLocal watercolor artist Paula Christen has invited her friend Alec Creighton to teach a class on his painting techniques and tips for realistic mountains, rocks and ridges in watercolor. Alec is a professional exploration geologist and one heck of a watercolor artist. Alec has spent most of his career in the mountain ranges of Alaska, Washington and Nevada. Alec knows mountains.
Paula Christen will be hosting Alec’s one day class on Saturday, April 25th, 10-3:30pm in her studio at 447 Wister Way in Winthrop. Students will bring painting supplies and sack lunch, snacks and beverages will be provided in the studio.
Cost is $125 and class size will be limited to just 8, so sign up early. This class is geared towards a more experienced painter.
The focus of the class will be:
-Understanding why mountains look the way they do
-Painting close up rock outcrops and far away ranges
-Atmosphere, light & shadows on mountains
-Depicting weather, seasons & time of day
