Write on the River Writing Competition

The 15th Annual Write on the River Writing Competition officially opened on Dec. 15.

The deadline for
submission is Feb. 28, 2022.

Six winners will be awarded a total of $1,200 in cash prizes for short fiction or nonfiction (maximum 1,000 words), on any theme or topic.



The competition is for any writer residing in central or eastern Washington. Current WOTR members living elsewhere in the state may also enter. The cost to submit is $20, or $40 to receive written critiques on the submission. If a writer would like to submit but is unable to due to financial circumstances, a few scholarships are available to cover the cost
of submission. Writers interested in applying for a scholarship should contact info@writeontheriver.org.

Write on the River is dedicated to nurturing and inspiring local writers, whether in fiction, nonfiction, or poetry. WOTR supports aims for traditional and indie publishing and local sharing of the written word.
