Arts Partners

Winthrop Gallery

The Winthrop Gallery, located in downtown Winthrop, is proud to represent the talent of this area and beyond. It represents the many professional artists of the region as a cooperative gallery and is now staffed and managed entirely by its artist members and volunteers. It is dedicated to bringing our best art work to those who appreciate the beauty of our surroundings.

We value the opportunity to support local and regional artists by providing a venue for the display and purchase of original art and which provides the public with the artists’ collective interpretation of this place which we believe adds value to the lives of those who live here and those who visit. We value the development of diverse works in a variety of media, including clay, encaustic, glass, oil painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, watercolors, pastels, wood, metal, paper, acrylics, basketry, furniture, jewelry, and textiles.

The Winthrop Gallery opened in 1998 as the Beckman/Williams Gallery under the operation of oil painter Betsy Williams. In 2001 the gallery expanded to represent the many professional artists of the region as a cooperative gallery and is now staffed and managed entirely by its artist members and volunteers. Membership is by jury review. The gallery’s gift area allows artisans to sell work on consignment.

Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
