Step inside the Winthrop Red Barn & enter a space where movement becomes conversation & rhythm becomes a shared language.
Project Convergence is a bi-coastal American dance company uniting Bharatanatyam & American tap dance, two traditions rooted in distinct cultures, brought together without erasing what makes each unique. What emerges is an experience that feels both familiar & surprising, ancient and contemporary, grounded & electric.
Led by artists whose work spans stages from Lincoln Center to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Project Convergence blends technical mastery with storytelling, showing how Indian & African-American dance traditions intersect through rhythm, timing, & expression. The result is a performance that resonates across generations & backgrounds, accessible, rigorous, & deeply human.
At its core, Project Convergence challenges the idea that “traditional” or “cultural” dance is niche or inaccessible. This is dance as dialogue: honoring specificity, history, & discipline while inviting audiences into something expansive & alive.
Families, students, artists, & curious minds alike are invited to witness a performance that moves beyond categories, one that celebrates difference, connection, & the power of dance to bring cultures together without compromise.
