Storymakers Studio

Turn ideas into images & images into stories

In this week-long visual arts camp, young artists learn how illustrators turn ideas into images that communicate characters, settings, & stories.

Campers explore drawing, design, & sequential art while creating their own illustrated story or book cover.

Stitch & Dip Creations

July 7-10, 2026

ages 8-12 years old

Sew, dye, stitch & tell stories through cloth

Campers will be introduced to natural dye methods using Indigo, dye resist techniques, basic sewing methods, & embroidery.

We will explore how to tell stories using these different mediums & campers will explore how to transform upcycled materials into beautiful works of art.

Methow Musings
Writing Camp

July 13-16, 2026

Rising 3rd - 6th grades

Play with words, poems & the world around you.

In this half day summer camp, campers will have some fun with words & explore their inner & outer worlds through writing.

What’s a Pantoum about a Platypus? An Ode to an Orange?  A Haiku about the Methow River? Different form & free verse poems as well as local field trips will provide us with inspiration.

August 3-6, 2026

Draw the wild, movement, texture & personality!

This camp invites young artists to study & celebrate local Methow wildlife through careful observation, drawing, & sculpture.

Campers learn how artists capture movement, texture, & personality while connecting art-making to the animals that share our valley.

If you live up valley, you can use Trango to commute to these summer camps.

My View: A Nature Journal

July 20-23, 2026

ages 8-12 years old

Observe, reflect, & create your own handmade journal.

Campers will be led through a journey of observation, questioning, recording & interpretation with Nick Littman & Maddie James.

Campers will bind their own books which they fill with poems, notes, sketches, paintings & ponderings about their environment & inner-world. Daily practice will involve nature walks, independent reflection time & community building through collaboration & sharing.

Methow Recycles Collaboration
