“Ecologically Aware Firewise: Backyards and Beyond”

Apr 12, 7-8:30, 2016

Methow Conservancy “First Tuesday” program ON THE SECOND TUESDAY

Join friends and neighbors for a timely and close-to-home program on how you can prepare your Methow property for fire season while being ecologically smart and sensitive. Ken Bevis of DNR’s Small Forest Landowner Stewardship program and Kirsten Cook, a Firewise expert with the Okanogan Conservation District, will co-lead a presentation on how to consider wildlife habitat when creating defensible space and becoming more firewise on your Methow property. Ken will teach us about “SLOPPS” (Snags, Logs, Openings, Patches, Piles and Shrubs) and also share his personal story: “Our House Almost Burned Down.”  MethowReady will also be present. Lots of handouts and materials will be available for the taking.
